What Would B.B. Wear (WWBBW): “Where Do You Buy Your Clothes?”

Recently, I had a conversation about where I buy my clothes. This question pops up often while I’m at work. I’ve also been approached by complete strangers on the rare occasions I’m at the store or mall—and I’m not wearing leggings and my oversized wrap cardigan. However, that sweater generates a lot of compliments—but I digress.

According to the American calendar, spring begins this week on the continent I call home. In consideration of the expected season change and the push for self-isolation due to COVID-19, I thought it might be a good time to explore some possible looks from the stores I frequent. Where shall I begin?

I base my store choices on a shortlist of criteria:

  • size selection—does the store/brand carry plus-size clothes
  • does the store/brand carry clothing that supports my lifestyle
  • is online shopping available

Let’s address my criteria one by one. Size selection may be considered a no-brainer; however, there are some creative ways to address sizing issues if you know a good tailor. But that is a subject for a post all of its own. I have to be cautious when it comes to sizing—the cut of clothing varies by brand. And in some cases, brands can be inconsistent with their sizing too. So, I choose stores/brands that offer the flexibility to size up if I need to.

I look for stores/brands that offer clothes that I can wear to work and on those rare occasions that I go to church, have dinner with friends, or have a date. Lastly, I am a huge fan of online shopping. If I can purchase clothing from the comfort of my home while binge-watching the Golden Girls—I’m all in.

So, let’s explore two clothing brands B.B. wears…

New York and Company meets all of the criteria on my list. They offer a variety of pieces that fit every part of my lifestyle. Their suiting and dresses are perfect for work and church—and can easily transition to dinner plans. They offer sizing from 00/XS to 20/2X; however, it can be WAY off sometimes. I’ve experienced purchasing a size 18 and it fits perfectly on one occasion and making another purchase in the same size and I can’t get it on. But overall—I am relatively satisfied with the majority of the pieces I get from them.

I am a huge fan of the bright colors and bold prints they use in their clothing line throughout the calendar year. Their spring 2020 line focuses on the coming season trends: polka dots, gingham, oversized bows, exaggerated puff sleeves, and mixing soft colors —like pink and soft tangerine.

Another “go-to” shopping spot for this buxom beauty is Amazon. As most of you know, this site has almost everything you could need or want with just a few clicks. When I’m looking for a new dress, my first stop is the brand vfshow on Amazon.

Vfshow offers dresses suited for a cocktail dinner, work, church, or a date—and they make great staple pieces. I am drawn to the sophisticated styles of their dresses. The material is stretchy and moves with me in every step. I love how the fabric hugs my curves, yet presents a sense of modesty. Most of their pieces are available in sizes XS to 3X—size 2X fits me perfectly. Vfshow is high on my list when it comes to answering #WWBBW.

If you’re looking for some new pieces for spring to add to your wardrobe I suggest checking out NY&Co. You may find something you like. And if you’re on the market for a great versatile LBD or LRD—check out Vfshow. If you do—let me know—I would love to hear all about it!

Until the next time be you— and most important—love you.

Being uniquely you is being uniquely beautiful. – B.B. 💋
