Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things, love never fails.
I Corinthians 13:7
If you have been following my blog, which I hope you have, you are very much aware of my push for self-love. I believe it is imperative that we love ourselves unconditionally. But, what does that really mean?
I am pretty confident within my skin but, by no means do I consider myself to be perfect – I am far from perfect. We all have insecurities, we’re human. I feel good about myself when I’m wearing my dresses and high heels with my hair laying neatly, nails to a perfect shine and my eyebrows precisely enhanced. I smile at the image I see looking back at me in the mirror. I love her, I pamper her and honestly, I don’t deny her much of anything. But, am I truly loving her as much as I could or as much as I should?
My perspective for self-love has been broadened. It is true that I strongly believe in pampering myself with the things I like to wear, eat, and do. I also believe in loving myself for who I am inside and out. I’ve learned to accept my individuality and my flaws, and I am trying to promote that in others.
I realize that truly loving oneself includes ensuring that every area in our lives is taken care of properly. I take pride in my appearance…I put a lot of time and energy into creating my look. But, I should spend an equal, if not more, time ensuring that I am healthy.
I wholeheartedly believe in self acceptance and loving every inch of my body – I believe we all should. However, it behooves us to make sure we are healthy. We should be seeing our doctors regularly, eating healthy balanced meals, and partaking in some form of exercise routine. Let’s be healthy plus-size women.
We can not truly love others until we have learned to love ourselves. Self-love is described as caring about oneself, and taking responsibility for oneself. We must take on the responsibility of ensuring our lives are at a healthy balance mentally, spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
I am challenging myself to make better decisions in every area of my life, and I hope you will join me in this endeavor. I have decided to make better food choices, get ample rest, exercise, strengthen my spiritual ties, and engage in more social activities that I enjoy.
Let us fully embrace the concept of true self-love by being healthy and happy. It can be achieved!
Are you up for the challenge?
Until the next time, be you and most importantly…love you.
Being uniquely you is being uniquely beautiful.
