WWBBW: The Short Sleeveless Cowl Dress by Whitney Mero

Back in May, I was scrolling through Etsy and I spotted a wool circle skirt that captured my attention. At some point—and I’m not exactly sure how—I ended up on Pinterest where I spotted a gray circle skirt that I wanted to add to my wardrobe. But I was too late, it was sold out. However, my excitement returned when I learned similar circle skirts were available at Onion.

When I visited the site, I was completely oblivious to the fact that the beautiful woman modeling the clothing is the designer of said skirt, Whitney Mero.

As I perused the website, I learned that each article of clothing is custom cut and sewn to order. To be perfectly honest, I had already decided I was ordering something from this brand when I saw the gray skirt—I just needed to figure out what it would be.

It was a difficult choice to make. Every piece looked soft, comfortable, and “flowy,” which would be perfect for casual workdays and an outing with friends—when we can again. I was torn between the obgt cotton jumper and the short sleeveless cowl dress. As you can tell by the title, I chose the dress.

I received my dress about two weeks ago. I admit I stalked my email multiple times daily, checking the status of the package on the US Postal Service site. Production and shipping were delayed due to COVID-19 and the influx of consumers supporting black-owned businesses. Although I eagerly—and sometimes impatiently—waited for my dress, I am glad Ms. Mero received an uptick in customers, and I wish her nothing but increased success.

The dress is a beautiful shade of indigo that I think will complement any skin tone. The fabric is soft like I imagined it would be, and the quality of the material is on point. The fit is perfect, accentuating all my positives, yet moves with me with each step I take.

The short sleeveless cowl dress is a #WWBBW pick. I will likely order the obgt cotton jumper soon—it is my birthday month.

If you haven’t checked out the Onion brand, I suggest you do—you might find something you like.

Until the next time be you—but more important—love you.

Being uniquely you is being uniquely beautiful.
