While I was patiently waiting to load my oven stuffer, sparkling grape juice, and sanitary wipes on the conveyor belt, I noticed the latest copy of Essence magazine at the checkout. I admit I was drawn to it because of how delectable Mr. Kofi Siriboe looks on the cover, but I was also pleased to see the advertisement of Ms. Tracee Ellis Ross’ clothing line for JC Penney.

After I put my chicken in the oven I decided to check out the Tracee Ellis Ross clothing line. There are quite a few “on trend” pieces like; velvet dresses, sequins, and my favorite – the robe jacket. The available sizes are small to 3X, and I was happy to see there is no increase in the price for sizes above “large.” The regular prices of the collection rage from $17.00 to $74.00.

I decided to try the “Heaven” tuxedo pants and jacket. I think it is a perfect outfit to snag for this season. It is a great choice for holiday parties for a comfortable yet chic look. Just add a sexy cami or even an embroidered bustiers or corset for a sexy and daring look. Pairing it with a printed t-shirt and stilettos will make a nice outfit for cocktails with the girls.

I paired the suiting with a black lace cami by Cacique and Ashley Graham fuchsia bra for a pop of color and a touch of sexiness.

I also purchased the “Bliss” robe jacket and cuffed trousers.  The robe jacket is a hot trend this season and I am drawn to wide cuffed pants. The combination is perfect for work and can easily transition to happy hour or a date after work.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Even though I have quite a few favorable things to say about my purchases, I do have some cons. The pieces are cut a little big and the pants are too long for me with heels on. Additionally, the material is a little thin for this time of year in my neck of the woods. But, I consider these things to be minute issues with easy fixes. A tailor can take care of the fit and length and leggings or tights can be worn underneath for warmth during chilly days.

Overall, I recommend this line especially because there are dresses and suiting options that are perfect for parties and events that happen at the end of the year. Do you have your outfit for New Year’s Eve? Hurry up – the line is only available for a limited time.
